Today, on the packaging of natural or “traditional” cosmetics we increasingly often read the wording “without parabens”.
What does exactly this mean? And why is lack of these substances in the formulation of a cosmetic product so important?
Parabens are simple chemical elements used (especially in the past) in the composition of many cosmetics as preservatives, because of their anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
However, some studies have pointed out that parabens can penetrate our body through epidermal tissues where they finally pile up.
Even if the debate on their safety is still vivid, for preventative reasons, some countries (like France) and organizations refuse their daily use.
That is why today any real “natural” cosmetic should not contain these substances, not only to guarantee “a pleasant appearance” but also and especially to preserve the health of consumers.
